Mayapada Healthcare Launches Eye Centre Service, Offering Direct Patient Pickup Facility

Mayapada Healthcare Rilis Layanan Eye Centre, Ada Fasilitas Langsung Jemput Pasien

Jakarta – Expanding its services, Mayapada Healthcare has officially launched Mayapada Eye Centre (MEC), a new service focused on improving vision quality through advanced and cutting-edge procedures. Its key offerings include laser vision correction (LVC) procedures, namely SMILE PRO and laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK).

Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Mayapada Healthcare, Navin Sonthalia, sees a significant increase in demand for eye centers in the future. Currently, 25 to 30 percent of Indonesia’s population suffers from myopia or refractive eye disorders.

“Because we are always in front of gadgets, our eyes are used to a distance of just 20 centimeters, and when we try to see far away, we can’t,” he said during the Soft Opening of Mayapada Eye Centre on Friday (June 21, 2024).

“This trend will continue to grow, and in about 15 years, 45 percent of Indonesia’s population may have myopia,” he predicted.

Following the Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCI) standards, Indonesians no longer need to seek treatment abroad, as MEC is already at an international standard. While it is currently available only at Mayapada Hospital South Jakarta, Navin stated that in the next six to twelve months, they aim to open two to three more eye centers.

“There are opportunities to open eye centers in many cities, but at the very least, we plan to expand to Surabaya and Bandung,” he said.

What Makes MEC Different?
COO of Mayapada Eye Centre, Putu Deddy Suhartawan, highlighted that MEC offers a Vision Assistant (VIA) service, where each patient will be accompanied by a dedicated team.

Interestingly, patients from within and outside Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) can receive pickup services, including airport transfers for out-of-town patients.

“We also offer hotel package bundles, and during their stay, patients are accompanied by a one-on-one vision assistant until they return home. Additionally, the assistant provides education to both patients and their families about the procedure,” he explained.

MEC also features highly skilled and experienced doctors, particularly in laser vision correction procedures, including LASIK.

At the end of the event, Chairman & Group CEO of Mayapada Healthcare, Jonathan Tahir, emphasized that innovation remains a priority in providing comprehensive healthcare services.

With the launch of Mayapada Eye Centre, Jonathan is confident that MEC can meet the community’s needs for optimal vision, ultimately improving productivity and quality of life.

“The Mayapada Eye Centre is integrated within Mayapada Hospital South Jakarta, ensuring its operations align with the hospital’s internationally accredited JCI standards,” Jonathan told reporters after inaugurating Mayapada Eye Centre on Friday (June 21, 2024).

MEC is committed to providing high-quality and innovative laser vision correction services. The SMILE PRO and LASIK procedures represent the latest advancements in LVC technology.

LASIK uses laser beams to reshape the corneal tissue, SMILE PRO, developed by Carl Zeiss, employs the VisuMax 800 Femtosecond Laser to correct refractive errors.
