dr. Rini Sulastiwaty Situmorang, SpM(K), MM is an ophthalmologist with expertise in glaucoma. She completed her medical degree at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Padjadjaran.
After graduation, she served in a government physician assignment program (PTT) in West Papua. She then continued her ophthalmology specialist training at the Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia.
Her strong interest in glaucoma led her to pursue further specialization. She completed a fellowship at Jakarta Eye Center. In addition, she undertook another fellowship at the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology, Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand. This institution is recognized as one of the leading medical education centers in Asia.
These experiences have given her broad expertise in managing various glaucoma cases, including those that require surgical intervention.
In her clinical practice, dr. Rini focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma. She also performs a range of surgical procedures based on patient needs. These include trabeculectomy and glaucoma drainage device (tube implant) procedures.
She is also experienced in minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) and various laser treatments for glaucoma.
In addition to glaucoma care, she provides comprehensive ophthalmology services, including cataract surgery. She places strong emphasis on early detection and long-term monitoring, as glaucoma often progresses without symptoms and can lead to permanent vision loss.
Beyond her clinical work, dr. Rini completed a Master of Management (MM) at Universitas Prasetiya Mulya. This education strengthens her understanding of management and organizational development.
