dr. Rini Sulastiwaty Situmorang, SpM(K), MM is an ophthalmologist with a subspecialty in glaucoma. She completed her medical degree at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Padjadjaran, and later served in the government physician assignment program (PTT) in West Papua before continuing her specialist training in ophthalmology at the Department of Ophthalmology, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia.
Her interest in glaucoma led her to further develop her expertise through fellowship programs at Jakarta Eye Center and at the Faculty of Medicine – Department of Ophthalmology, Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University, Bangkok, Thailand, one of the leading medical education centers in Asia. Through these experiences, she gained extensive exposure to the management of various glaucoma cases, including those requiring surgical intervention.
In her clinical practice, the services she provides include glaucoma diagnosis, treatment, and surgical procedures tailored to patients’ needs, such as trabeculectomy, glaucoma drainage device implantation (tube implant), minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), as well as various laser procedures for glaucoma. In addition, comprehensive ophthalmology services, including cataract surgery, are also part of her daily practice.
She places strong emphasis on early detection and long-term monitoring of glaucoma, as the disease often progresses without noticeable symptoms but can lead to irreversible vision loss if left untreated.
Beyond her clinical work, she also completed a Master of Management (MM) program at Prasetiya Mulya University, further strengthening her understanding of management and organizational development.
